A wise man once sat in the audience and cracked a joke. Everybody laughs like crazy. After a moment, he cracked the same joke again, less people laughed this time. 98% of all the people in this world doesn't make an (totally) HONEST living..

i mean, come on! we all know that, take sales talk for example, 40% of what the sales lady/man is saying is a total lie.

And by honest, it means no deceiving, lying, cheating, fraud, etc.

It's not "I know how you feel"

 It's

" I know what you feel"

If you ever try to comfort someone, think first of what you'll say. Because sometimes, we are being insensitive by saying the wrong words, specially when we've never been in his/her shoes. So my thought is, saying "I know what you feel"  are for those people who only KNOWS what it feels and "I know how you feel" for those people who've experienced the same tragedy in life.
